Troy was born in New Orleans, La in 1980.

He went to college at the University of Memphis, moved to New York City in 2002 and attended the Maggie Flanigan's Meisner two year Acting Program. Since completing the program, Troy's attention has shifted to writing and is rewriting three original screenplays and one play.

He is currently attending Hunter College to study screenplay writing.
